We are looking for a Regional Environment, Health and Safety Manager for our EMEA operations – EHS Manager (responsible for four pants). Travel required, up to 50%.
Your new role
You will report directly to the Global EHS Director and will have responsibility for the entire EMEA region for environment, health and safety issues.
RESPONSIBILITY:
- Develop internal controls (processes/procedures), set up controls (audits) and register chemicals entering EU markets to ensure compliance with REACH.
- Provide an EHS and compliance consulting service that enables the company to meet regulatory and business requirements that fit the needs of the business units.
- Organize, manage and centralize the use of external consultants for compliance-related matters. This includes tracking, measuring and reporting progress and hiring consultants for key results.
- Support the implementation of new/updated policies, procedures and training, including providing technical input and guidance specific to national and local requirements.
- Conduct company EHS audits.
- Manage EHS and compliance issues at a regional level to include sharing best practices, lessons learned from all types of events (injuries/illnesses, general environmental liability, etc.), reviewing regulatory and policy changes to be applied to businesses and provide input on compliance of new hires and employee training with national and local requirements.
- Provide EHS technical support to the company to ensure alignment with global programs/goals.
- Be involved in supporting regional operational learnings of EHS events.
- Work independently to understand the business and manage activities that support risk reduction and legal compliance. Collaborate with internal groups to monitor, trend, and report EHS metrics to mitigate risks and help identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate to create internal dashboards to meet the needs of the business, including continuous improvements to include monitoring of violations and regulatory communications, as well as interactions with government agencies.
- Review regulatory updates and communicate potential business impacts.
- Responsible for any other projects that may be assigned as needed.
- Part of the process of hiring EHS professionals to ensure the company acquires the best talent in its facilities across the region.
What do you need to be successful
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Over 5-10 years of related experience.
- Extensive working knowledge of regional and local EHS compliance and regulatory requirements as they relate to manufacturing and facility operations.
- Working knowledge of legal records
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Science/Engineering/Environmental Science/Safety or related area.
- Must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization effectively and professionally.
- High level project management, interpersonal communications and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to influence change and quickly navigate a complex and constantly adaptive environment.
- Servant leader mentality, featuring exemplary listening skills and the ability to lead with empathy through awareness and foresight.
- Travel required, up to 50%.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in environmental, health and safety matters in a manufacturing context.
- Master's degree or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a regional support role in multiple countries.
